Well, well, well, look what we got here! Barbie movie, huh? That skinny doll my granddaughter used to play with. Now she’s all grown up, that Barbie, in a movie! And they talkin’ ’bout a Chanel necklace in the Barbie movie. Fancy, fancy!
That girl, Margot Robbie, she’s playin’ Barbie. Heard she’s a big shot, some ambassador for Chanel. Big word, don’t know what it means, but sounds important. So she’s wearin’ all these Chanel things in the movie, that’s what I heard. Five outfits! Can you believe it? Five! Back in my day, we were lucky to have two dresses, one for everyday and one for Sunday church!
This Chanel necklace Barbie movie thing, it’s a big deal, I guess. They say it’s a real necklace, this Barbie Chanel necklace. Not some plastic toy thing. From somethin’ called spring-summer 1995. Sounds like a fancy drink to me! Some model lady wore it first, this Shalom Harlow. They got all these names!
And this other necklace, not Chanel, but from some place called Missoma. A heart one. They call it “Ridged Heart Charm”. Sounds like somethin’ you’d hang on your door to scare away the crows! But I guess young folks like it. It’s all about fashion these days, somethin’ I never understood.
This movie, it’s about that Barbie doll and her fella, Ken. They go on some trip, findin’ themselves. Sounds silly to me. You are who you are! They go to a place called Barbieland and then the “real world.” What’s wrong with the real world? I lived in the real world my whole life. Ain’t no need to go lookin’ for it!

They say this Chanel necklace Barbie movie thing is the first real Barbie movie. ‘Cause they had all those cartoon ones before. Cartoons! We didn’t have those when I was a girl. We had to use our imaginations!
This Barbie, she’s got some kinda problem. An “existential crisis.” Another big word! Probably just needs a good meal and some hard work. That’ll fix any crisis!
So, this Chanel, they made clothes for the movie. Five of them. They say Margot, that Barbie girl, she wears a pink Chanel skirt suit. Like that other model, Claudia Schiffer, wore a long time ago. 1995, they say. I was probably tendin’ my garden back then. Don’t remember no pink suits!
This Barbie Chanel necklace, it’s a custom one. Means they made it special, I reckon. Not somethin’ you just buy at the store. We used to make our own clothes. Didn’t need no fancy Chanel!
Guess this movie’s gonna be popular. All the young girls will want a Chanel necklace now. Or that Missoma heart thing. Me? I’ll stick to my old locket. Got a picture of my husband in it. That’s worth more than any Chanel.

Chanel, Missoma, Barbieland… it’s all a bit much for me. I like things simple. A good cup of coffee, a warm fire, and the sound of the crickets at night. That’s all I need. But I guess these young folks need their Barbie movie and their Chanel necklace.
That Margot Robbie, she is a pretty girl. I’ll give her that. And I guess it’s nice that Barbie’s gettin’ all dressed up. Maybe it’ll teach these young girls to take pride in how they look. Though I still think a good heart is more important than a fancy necklace.
This movie, it’s gonna be everywhere, I bet. On the TV, in the magazines. Everyone talkin’ about Barbie and Chanel necklace. Well, I’ll be here, in my garden, tendin’ to my tomatoes. They don’t care about no Barbie movie.
So there you have it. A movie about a doll, wearin’ a real Chanel necklace. Times sure have changed. But some things stay the same. Hard work, family, and a good heart. That’s what matters. And that’s somethin’ you won’t find in no movie, or on no necklace, Chanel or otherwise.
