Hey guys, so today I decided to get into something I’ve been meaning to try for a while – covering BLACKPINK. You know, the whole deal with singing and dancing along to their tracks. I’ve been a huge fan for ages, and I figured, why not give it a shot? It looked like so much fun in all those videos online.

First off, I spent a good chunk of my morning just picking the right song. I mean, they have so many hits! “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” was tempting because it’s such a banger, but then “Whistle” has that cool, laid-back vibe. And don’t even get me started on “Flower” by Jisoo, but that’s more of a solo thing. After going back and forth, I finally settled on “Shut Down.” It’s got that mix of intense and smooth that I thought would be fun to try.
Once the song was picked, I spent some time just listening to it on repeat. I wanted to really get the feel for the rhythm and the lyrics. I even watched their music video a few times to see how they performed it. Jennie, Rosé, Jisoo, and Lisa make it look so effortless, but man, it’s a lot harder than it looks!
Next up was the dance. Oh boy, this was a whole other level. I found a couple of tutorial videos online and started with the chorus. It took a lot of rewinding and pausing, but I slowly started to get the hang of it. There were a few moves that I just couldn’t seem to get right, so I practiced those over and over again. My living room became my dance studio for the day.
After feeling somewhat confident with the dance, I moved on to the singing. I’m not exactly a professional singer, but I gave it my best shot. I tried to match the tone and the energy of the original track. It was actually pretty fun, even though I’m sure my neighbors weren’t too thrilled about hearing the same song over and over again.
Finally, I decided to record myself. I set up my phone, took a deep breath, and went for it. It wasn’t perfect, but I definitely had a blast. It was a cool feeling to put it all together – the singing, the dancing, the whole performance. And you know what? I think I did alright! It was a lot of fun stepping into the shoes of a K-pop star, even if it was just for a little while.

So yeah, that was my BLACKPINK cover experience. It was challenging, but super rewarding. I might even try another song sometime. Maybe “Boombayah”? We’ll see! Anyway, thanks for tuning in, and I hope you enjoyed hearing about my little adventure.
Here are some highlights from my cover day:
- Spent the morning picking the perfect song.
- Listened to “Shut Down” on repeat to get the rhythm and lyrics down.
- Watched BLACKPINK’s music video to study their performance.
- Spent hours learning the dance moves from online tutorials.
- Practiced singing along to the track, trying to match the original vibe.
- Recorded myself performing the cover and had a ton of fun.
What I Learned
Doing this cover really gave me a new appreciation for what BLACKPINK does. It’s not just about singing and dancing; it’s about the energy, the style, and the whole performance aspect. They make it look so easy, but there’s a lot of hard work that goes into it. I also learned that I have a lot more respect for my own limits.
Overall, it was an awesome experience. I got to step out of my comfort zone, try something new, and have a great time doing it. And who knows, maybe this is just the beginning of my K-pop cover journey! Until next time, keep dancing and singing, everyone!
