Okay, so, I’ve been totally obsessed with this Bottega suede Jodie bag lately. I mean, who isn’t, right? It’s like the hottest thing in fashion right now. But, taking care of suede? That’s a whole other story. I finally got my hands on one, and let me tell you, I was terrified of ruining it.

First thing I did was freak out, naturally. I mean this bag is not cheap! So I started doing some serious digging online. How do I keep this beauty looking fresh? Turns out, suede is kind of a high-maintenance gal. You can’t just throw it around like a regular leather bag.
Here’s the lowdown on what I’ve learned and actually been doing.
Storage
- I found out that you gotta keep it in a cool, dry place.
- No direct sunlight, that’s a big no-no, it can mess up the color.
- I’ve been using a dust bag like it’s my new best friend. Pillowcases work too, I guess. The whole point is to keep the dust and scratches away, you know?
Cleaning
- Okay, this is where it gets interesting. Water is like suede’s worst enemy. It leaves these ugly marks.
- But get this, white vinegar and rubbing alcohol are the secret weapons! I know, it sounds crazy, but they actually work.
- I tried it on a small, hidden spot first, just to be safe. You just dab a little on a clean cloth, rub it gently on the stain, and let it dry. And guess what? It actually lifted some dirt without leaving a mark. Magic!
General Care
- I also got myself a stiff brush.
- I give the bag a good brushing regularly to keep the nap looking good and to prevent dirt from settling in.
- And for those little everyday smudges, I found that unscented baby wipes do the trick. Just a gentle wipe, and it’s like nothing ever happened.
Other stuff
Oh, and one more thing I learned. Bottega bags are made from this fancy lambskin leather. It’s super soft and all, but yeah, it can scratch. So, I’m trying to be extra careful, which is hard for me because I’m clumsy as heck! But hey, at least they have a lifetime product warranty, so that’s a relief.
Also, I saw some people talking about trimming the suede as it wears down. I haven’t had to do that yet, thankfully. But it’s good to know it’s an option, I think.
So, yeah, that’s my journey with my Bottega suede Jodie so far. It’s a bit of work, but totally worth it, in my opinion. This bag is a dream! Just gotta treat her right, and she’ll stay looking fabulous. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do!
