Okay, guys, let’s talk about Creed Royal Oud. I’ve been messing around with this fragrance for a bit now, and I gotta say, it’s been quite the ride. You know I’m a sucker for trying out new scents, and this one had been on my radar for a while.

So, I finally snagged a bottle, I think it is 344.25$ from Nordstrom. Yeah, it’s pricey, but I was curious. Oud is supposed to be this super rare and expensive ingredient, extracted from some trees in South East Asia. Apparently, these trees take, like, seven years to mature before they’re good to go for oud. Talk about a long game, right?
When I first sprayed it on, my initial reaction was, “Whoa, that’s different.” It’s not your typical fresh, citrusy scent, you know? It hits you with this woody, kind of spicy aroma right off the bat. I picked up on sandalwood and cedar pretty quickly, which I’m a fan of. It’s definitely a more mature, sophisticated kind of vibe.
I wore it around for a day to see how it developed. It’s not a beast mode projector like Green Irish Tweed, but people around me definitely noticed it. Someone even asked if I was wearing something new. I got a solid 7-8 hours out of it, which isn’t too shabby. It settles into this warm, slightly smoky scent after a few hours. I can see why they call it “Royal” Oud – it does have this luxurious, almost regal feel to it.
My experiment
- Used it for the first time: Got hit with the woody smell right away.
- Wore it all day: It lasted a good 7-8 hours and changed into a warm, smoky scent.
- Checked what others thought: People noticed it and one asked what it was.
I’ve been experimenting with layering it with other fragrances, too. It plays well with some, but it can be a bit overpowering if you’re not careful. I found that a spritz of something lighter and fresher can balance it out nicely.
Now, is it worth the hype (and the price tag)? That’s the million-dollar question, isn’t it? Honestly, it depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re into unique, woody scents and you’re willing to splurge a bit, then yeah, it might be worth checking out. But if you’re more of a freshie or blue fragrance kind of guy, this one might not be your cup of tea. It’s definitely not a blind buy, in my opinion.
All in all, Creed Royal Oud has been an interesting addition to my fragrance collection. It’s not something I’d wear every day, but it’s definitely a good option for special occasions or when I’m feeling fancy. I’m still playing around with it, so who knows, maybe my opinion will evolve over time. But for now, that’s my two cents on this much-talked-about fragrance.
