Alright, alright, let’s gab a bit about this Playboi Carti fella and all this Jesus buzz, ya know? Don’t rightly know what all the fuss is about, but I heard folks talkin’, so I figured I’d chime in.
Who’s this Playboi Carti Anyways?
Well, from what I gather, this young’un, Jordan Terrell Carter they call him, he’s a rapper. Born on some day in September, not that it matters much. He goes by Playboi Carti, which sounds like a fancy name to me. Folks say he’s made a real splash in the music world, with them songs of his.
- He’s got this one song, somethin’ about “Wokeuplikethis,” folks seem to like it.
- And another one, “Magnolia,” heard that one on the radio once, real loud it was.
They say he’s got a whole bunch of songs, and some mixtapes too. Not sure what a mixtape is, sounds like somethin’ you’d use to fix a leaky pipe, but I reckon it’s somethin’ different in the music world.
This “Jesus” Music, What’s the Deal?
Now, this is where it gets confusin’. Folks are yappin’ about Carti and somethin’ called “Jesus” music. Don’t rightly know if he’s singin’ hymns now or what. But they say it’s supposed to be real different from what he’s done before.
They’re sayin’ it’s got this… this “industrial” sound, whatever that means. Like factories and clangin’ metal, I guess. And guitars, real loud ones, electric they call ‘em. And his voice, they say it’s all… distorted. Like he’s talkin’ through a tin can or somethin’. I tell ya, these youngsters and their fancy noises!
They datamined somethin’ or other on his website, and they found this title, “music.” Just “music,” plain and simple. Maybe he’s tired of all the fancy names and just wants to call it what it is. Makes sense to me.
That “Whole Lotta Red” Thing and All That Yellin’
Seems like before this “Jesus” stuff, he had this other album, “Whole Lotta Red.” Folks went plumb crazy over it. Said it was somethin’ new, somethin’ different. They called it “ragebeats,” like angry music, I guess. All that screamin’ and hollerin’, makes my head hurt just thinkin’ about it.
And the words, Lord have mercy, you can’t understand a lick of it! It’s like he’s just makin’ noises, all them vowels and such. Folks say it don’t matter, that it’s all about the beat, but I like a song you can understand, somethin’ with a story.
Unreleased Songs and the Future
And then there’s talk of songs that ain’t even out yet, unreleased they call ’em. This “Jesus” song, nobody knows when it’s comin’ out for sure. It’s like waitin’ for the cows to come home, you just gotta be patient, I reckon.
Some folks say it’s gonna be a game changer, that it’ll change the way music sounds. Others say it’s just noise, that Carti’s gone off the deep end. Me? I don’t rightly know. I’ll listen to it when it comes out, maybe tap my foot a little if it’s got a good beat.

So, that’s the long and short of it, as far as I can tell. Playboi Carti, “Jesus” music, “Whole Lotta Red,” and a whole lotta noise. We’ll just have to wait and see what this young’un does next. Maybe he’ll surprise us all, maybe he’ll just keep on makin’ that crazy racket. Either way, folks will be listenin’, and that’s what matters, I guess.
