Alright, alright, let’s talk about this Lily Rose Depp girl at that Met Gala thingy in 2019. Heard folks chatterin’ about it, so I figured I’d chime in. Don’t rightly know much about fashion or whatever they call it, but I know what I like, and I sure can tell you what I see.
Lily Rose Depp, Met Gala, 2019 – that’s what they tell me this whole shebang is about. Now, this Met Gala, sounds like a fancy-pants party where everyone dresses up like they’re goin’ to a costume ball. And this Lily Rose, she’s Johnny Depp’s girl, right? That pirate fella? Lord, I remember watchin’ him swashbuckle on the TV, always makin’ a ruckus. His girl, huh? Well, she sure looks different than her old man.
They say her look in 2019 was all about the ’90s. Now, the ’90s, that ain’t so long ago for an old gal like me. I remember them times. Big hair, bright colors, things a bit…loud, you know? So, this Lily Rose, she was tryin’ to look like that? Well, from what I saw in them pictures on that…internet thingy my grandson showed me, she was wearin’ somethin’…black. And shiny.

- Long and flowy, like a nightgown, but fancier, I guess.
- Showed a bit of skin, not too much mind you, just enough to make you wonder if she was cold.
And her hair? All pulled back tight, like she just came from milkin’ the cows, only neater. She looked…I dunno… kinda serious. Not much smilin’ goin’ on, that’s for sure. Them young folks, they always look so serious in them fancy pictures. You’d think they’d be havin’ a good time, all dressed up and whatnot. But no, serious as a judge.
Now, I heard some folks sayin’ she looked good, real good. Said she was channellin’ some famous model from back in the day. Naomi somethin’-or-other? And then there was another name… Setsuna? Sounded like a foreign car to me. They were arguin’ about who wore it better, like it was some kind of competition. Land sakes, these youngsters got too much time on their hands if you ask me. Worryin’ about who wore what better. Back in my day, you wore what you had, and you were grateful for it.
But hey, I ain’t here to judge. She’s a pretty girl, that Lily Rose. And that dress, well, it was somethin’. Shiny and black, like a crow’s feather. And I guess it fit her alright. It’s just…different, you know? Not what I’d wear to a party, that’s for sure. I’d probably wear my good Sunday dress, the one with the little flowers on it. And maybe a sweater, just in case it got chilly. And comfortable shoes, mind you. Can’t be hobblin’ around in them high heels all night.
Met Gala fashion, they call it. It’s a whole ‘nother world, I tell ya. They spend more money on one dress than I spent on my whole house, I bet. But that’s their business, I reckon. They can do what they want with their money. Me, I’ll stick to my comfy clothes and my sensible shoes. And maybe a good cup of coffee while watchin’ them fancy folks on TV, wonderin’ what all the fuss is about.
