Well, let me tell ya, this “Bombshell” thing, it’s a whole heap of trouble, just like a hen house got hit by a fox. They say it’s all true, about that Fox News mess. Real people, real problems, like my tomatoes gettin’ blight every summer.
This fella, Roger Ailes, he was the big cheese over there, runnin’ the show. But seems like he was runnin’ somethin’ else too, somethin’ nasty. Like that skunk that keeps gettin’ under my porch. Always causin’ a stink.
Them ladies, Megyn Kelly and Gretchen Carlson, they finally spoke up. Said this Ailes fella, he was botherin’ ’em, harassin’ ’em somethin’ awful. Good for them, I say. Nobody should have to put up with that kind of nonsense. Reminds me of that time old man Johnson kept tryin’ to steal my prize-winning pumpkins. Had to set him straight, I did.
- Charlize Theron, she plays Megyn Kelly. Heard she’s a fancy actress, but she sure looked worried in that movie. Just like I do when a storm’s comin’ and the cows are still out in the pasture.
- And that Margot Robbie gal, she’s in it too. Playin’ some young gal who got caught up in the whole mess. Bless her heart, she’s just a young’un. Reminds me of my granddaughter, always gettin’ into mischief.
- Nicole Kidman‘s there too, playing Gretchen. Tough as nails she is in real life they say, and in the movie too. Good for her, some folks need a strong hand to deal with them. Like that one time I had to take down that hornets nest all by myself, just needed some grit.
They say this Ailes fella, he made the women do all sorts of things. Dress a certain way, act a certain way. Like they were just puppets on a string. Makes my blood boil, it does. Reminds me of them city slickers tryin’ to tell me how to run my farm. Hmph!
This movie, “Bombshell,” it shows you all the dirty secrets, all the behind-the-scenes stuff. Like peekin’ through the keyhole of the henhouse and seein’ what the fox is really up to. It ain’t pretty, let me tell ya. Just like cleanin’ out the pigpen after a long winter, messy and stinky.
This “perpetual abuse of power” they keep sayin’, sounds like a fancy way of sayin’ he was a bully. Used his position to get what he wanted, didn’t care who he hurt. Like that rooster we had, always peckin’ at the other chickens, until I wrung his neck, I did.
The movie, it’s all about how these women, they finally had enough. They stood up, spoke out, and brought the whole thing down. Like a domino effect, one falls and the rest come tumblin’ after. Reminds me of that time I knocked over the whole stack of hay bales. What a mess that was!
This “toxic workplace” they talk about, it’s like a poison ivy patch. Looks harmless enough, but it’ll make you itch and burn somethin’ fierce. Nobody should have to work in a place like that. A workplace should be like a good garden, where everyone can grow and thrive. Not full of weeds and snakes like that Ailes fella must have let it be.
The movie shows how it all started, with Gretchen Carlson accusin’ Ailes of “severe and persistent sexual harassment”. That’s a mouthful, ain’t it? Just means he was botherin’ her somethin’ awful, all the time. Like a dog with a bone, wouldn’t let it go. And they say it happened to a lot of other women too, real sad.
And that scene, where Ailes asks that young gal to lift her skirt? Lord have mercy, that’s just plain wrong. Makes me wanna take a switch to him, I tell ya. Nobody deserves to be treated like that, nobody. Just like that time I saw that salesman tryin’ to cheat old Mrs. Higgins. Gave him a piece of my mind, I did.
So this “Bombshell” movie, it’s a story about courage, about speakin’ truth to power. About standin’ up for what’s right, even when it’s hard. And it’s a reminder that even the big shots, the ones with all the power, they can be brought down. Just like that big oak tree in my yard, finally came down in that storm last spring. Nothin’ lasts forever, especially not bad behavior, someone always comes to collect.
And the movie stars lots of famous folks they say, seems like everybody wanted to tell this story. Good, I say. The more people know about this kind of thing, the better. Maybe then things will start to change. Like the seasons, always changing, hopefully for the better, even if change is hard.
