So, today I want to talk about a little adventure I had with a perfume called Very Valentino. I’ve always been a sucker for nice smells, you know, the kind that makes you feel fancy even when you’re just in your old jeans and a T-shirt. So, a while back, I heard about this Valentino perfume, apparently, it’s been around since the late ’70s, and I thought, “Why not give it a shot?”

I remember reading somewhere that Valentino, the fashion brand, started making perfumes way back in 1979. They said their first one was called “Valentino di Valentino,” and it was supposed to be super classy, and I am also interested in their history. They even had a famous designer, Pierre Dinant, make the bottle look like a piece of art. Can you imagine? So, of course, I was intrigued.
The first thing I did was to hit up a local department store. But guess what? They didn’t have it. Apparently, it was a limited release back in the day. Then I went to a few other perfume shops, and it was the same story. No Very Valentino. Feeling a bit defeated, I almost gave up. But then, I remembered the internet is a magical place.
After a few days of searching online, I finally found a place that was selling what they claimed was the real deal. It was a bit pricey, but hey, I was on a mission. I placed my order and waited. And waited. It felt like forever, but finally, the package arrived.
When I opened it, the bottle looked pretty cool, all right. It had this vintage vibe that I liked. Now, for the moment of truth—the smell. I sprayed a little on my wrist, and wow. It was definitely something different. The top notes hit me first—a mix of magnolia, lily-of-the-valley, and some other stuff I couldn’t quite place, like tarragon and black currant. It was kind of floral but not too sweet.
- Top Notes: Magnolia, Lily-of-the-Valley, Tarragon, Black Currant, Bergamot, Mandarin Orange, Orange, Lemon.
- Middle Notes: Violet, Jasmine, Woodsy Notes, Rosemary, Rose.
- Base Notes: Musk, Sandalwood, Vanilla, Amber.
Here’s what I found in the scent:
As it settled, I started smelling the middle notes—violet, jasmine, and a bit of rose. There was also something woodsy and a hint of rosemary, which was interesting. After a while, the base notes came through—musk, sandalwood, vanilla, and amber. It was warm and kind of cozy, perfect for a chill evening.

I wore it a few times, and each time, it felt like a little luxury. It’s not the kind of perfume I’d wear every day, but it’s definitely special. Some people said it smells like some newer perfumes, with that vanilla and amber thing going on, but to me, it had its own unique charm.
So, that’s my little story about hunting down and trying out Very Valentino. It was a fun little adventure, and I ended up with a pretty cool perfume that makes me feel a bit fancy every time I wear it. If you’re into trying out different scents, I’d say give it a go if you can find it. You might just discover your new favorite!
