Okay, so let’s talk about this UGG x Gallery Dept. collab. I’ve been seeing it pop up everywhere, and I finally decided to dive in and see what the hype was all about. First off, I heard that Gallery Dept. is this streetwear brand from LA, founded by some artist dude named Josu Thomas. Sounds cool, right? And they’ve teamed up with UGG before, so this isn’t their first rodeo.
Getting Started
I started by digging around to figure out when this thing was actually dropping. Turns out, it was February 23, 2024. Not too long ago. You could snag it online or in some select stores. I chose the online route ’cause, you know, who wants to leave the house these days? Anyway, I found out they were releasing a bunch of stuff, like the Tasman Slippers and the Classic Boots. All with that artsy Gallery Dept. twist. Pricey, though. I saw the Tasman was going for, like, $395. Ouch, my wallet!
The Process
Next, I started checking out the actual designs. They’re definitely unique, I’ll give them that. I mean, who would’ve thought to put jewels on UGGs? Bold move. They really leaned into that whole “redefining the Cowboy Boot” vibe, which is kinda cool, I guess. It’s not really my style, but I can see the appeal. From what I saw, the Classic Boots were getting a lot of attention too. Makes sense, they’re a classic for a reason.
