You know that SpongeBob? That yellow guy, lives in a pineapple under the sea. And his friend, Patrick, the pink starfish. My grandkids, they watch it all the time. They say, “Grandma, you gotta see this!” And I watch it, yeah. It’s silly, that’s what it is. But you know what? I started thinking, what if them two were real? Like, real people walking around, not just on that TV box.

That SpongeBob, he’s always so happy. Got that big goofy grin. Always making those… what are they… Krabby Patties? He flips them burgers like nobody’s business. If he was a real person, he’d probably be one of those cooks at the diner, you know? Always whistling while he works. The kind that makes you a good breakfast. He would be thin, I think. He is always running around.
And Patrick, well, he’s a big fella. A big, pink fella. Not the brightest bulb, that one. Reminds me of my cousin, bless his heart. Always getting into some kind of trouble. If Patrick was real, he’d be the kind of guy who sits on the porch all day, watching the world go by. Maybe dozing off in the sun. He doesn’t have much to do in that show, right? It is always SpongeBob doing things.
But imagine them two, SpongeBob and Patrick, walking down the street. You’d see them, wouldn’t you? A skinny yellow guy and a big pink guy. They’d be friends, that’s for sure. Always together. Like two peas in a pod. Even though they’re so different. One is so happy, and another is always sleeping.
- SpongeBob: skinny, yellow, happy, cook, always working
- Patrick: big, pink, sleepy, not so smart, always relaxing
What would they do if they were real? SpongeBob, he’d probably be helping people. Mowing lawns, carrying groceries. He’s that kind of guy. Always wanting to lend a hand. He’d be the first one to help you cross the street if you needed it. He would be everyone’s friend, I think.
Patrick, well, he might need a little help himself. But he’d be a good friend. Loyal, you know? He’d stick by you, even if you were having a bad day. He doesn’t say much, but he would be there if you need him. He might make you laugh, you know? Patrick can make you laugh.

They’d be quite a pair, SpongeBob and Patrick, if they were real. I think they might have some problems, though. Some people might not understand them. They are different, after all. Some folks might even be scared of them, I guess. A yellow guy and a pink guy. Not something you see every day. But they are good, though. They have good hearts.
I think the world could use a little more SpongeBob and Patrick. People who are kind and happy. People who are loyal and good friends. Even if they’re a little different. Even if one is yellow and the other is pink. We need more people like that. I think so.
My grandkids, they love SpongeBob and Patrick. They think they’re funny. And they are, I guess. But they’re also good. They teach you things. About being a good friend. About being happy. About helping people. Even if you’re a little… different. Those are good things to learn. Important things.
So, yeah, SpongeBob and Patrick, in real life. It’s a funny thought. But it’s a good thought, too. Makes you think about things. About being kind. About being a good friend. About being happy. Important stuff, you know? Very important stuff. And they make those Krabby Patties, I want to try one of those one day.
You know, it’s a strange world, ain’t it? You got your yellow guys, your pink guys. But as long as they’re good folks, that’s all that matters. And SpongeBob and Patrick, they’re good folks. Even if they live in a pineapple under the sea. Or, you know, if they were walking around here, amongst us. I think I would like them if I met them. They seem like nice boys.
If Spongebob and Patrick were real, they might get into some trouble. People might not understand them. But they would be okay. They would have each other. And that’s what matters. Friends. Good friends. That’s what life is all about, ain’t it? Having good friends. Like SpongeBob and Patrick. Even if one of you is a little… different. But that’s okay.
