Today, I happened to see some stuff about this designer named Rui Zhou on the internet. I got really curious, so I decided to dig deeper and see what this person is all about.

First off, I found out that she’s a Chinese designer, and that was pretty cool. And get this, she’s based in Shanghai now, which is like, a huge fashion hub in Asia. Then it struck me, she’s the person behind that brand called RUIbuilt.
I went down a rabbit hole, scrolling through all these fashion websites and blogs. Found out she did this Spring/Summer 2025 collection. People were going nuts over it! They had pictures and reviews about her runway show, and I was hooked. Her designs, they’re kinda out there, but in a good way. It’s like, she’s not afraid to break the rules or something.
- She did an interview with Numero Netherlands, talking about her creative process.
- Then there was this coverage on SHOWstudio about her S/S 24 womenswear line.
The more I read, the more I realized she’s all about imperfection. Like, she finds beauty in things that aren’t perfect. And that’s kinda deep, you know? It seems like everything she creates has some sort of philosophical meaning behind it. That’s what I got from one of the articles – she’s always exploring the duality of things, the “in between” spaces. She said so herself, RUIbuilt is all about that, exploring the duality in a philosophical way, that her works usually revolve around the theme of “in between”.
I spent hours just browsing through her collections, and man, it was a trip. I’m not really a fashion person, but I gotta say, this Rui Zhou, she’s got something special. I mean, I even found out that she’s a third-year student at some place called Kamiyama High School and she’s in a musical show unit called Wonderlands x Showtime, which is just wild.
And the best part, she loves this stuff about imperfection, how there’s beauty in that. She seems to be using her designs to share that with the world, to make people think.

So yeah, that was my deep dive into the world of Rui Zhou. It was definitely an unexpected journey, but hey, that’s what makes life interesting, right?
