So, I recently had a bit of a runaround with Calpak’s return policy, and I figured I’d share my experience here in case anyone else is scratching their head over it. I bought a piece of luggage from them a few weeks back – looked great online, seemed like just what I needed for my upcoming trip.
Unboxing and First Impressions
- When the suitcase arrived, I eagerly unboxed it.
- Did a once-over, you know, checking out the wheels, the handle, all that jazz.
The Realization
- After a couple of days, though, I realized it wasn’t quite the right fit for me. It was a tad smaller than I anticipated, and I was worried it wouldn’t hold all my stuff.
Starting the Return Process
- So, I hopped onto their website, looking to start a return. I’d heard they had a 30-day return window, so I was still within that timeframe.
- Dug around the site for the return instructions – not super straightforward, but I found them eventually.
The Fine Print
- Here’s where it got a little tricky. Turns out, the item has to be unused. Like, totally unused. Which makes sense, but also makes it hard to really know if a suitcase is right for you without, you know, using it a bit.
- They also mentioned something about a restocking fee, which I wasn’t thrilled about.
Contacting Customer Service
- I decided to reach out to their customer service for clarification. I found their number on the site after a bit of searching.
- Got a representative on the line after a short wait – pretty standard stuff.
- Explained my situation, asked about the return process, the restocking fee, and all that.
The Outcome
- The customer service rep was helpful enough. They confirmed the 30-day policy and the unused condition requirement.
- They also mentioned that if I wanted to exchange it for a different size, that might be an option, though it’d still have to be unused.
My Decision
- After weighing my options, I decided to go ahead with the return. I packed the suitcase back up in its original packaging – thankfully, I hadn’t thrown that out yet.
- Filled out the return form online, got the shipping label, and dropped it off at the post office.
Waiting Game
- Now I’m just waiting for the refund to process. They said it could take a few business days after they receive the item.
Lessons Learned
- Read the return policy carefully before making a purchase, especially for online orders.
- Be aware that “unused” means really unused – don’t take it for a test drive around the block.
- Keep the original packaging until you’re sure you’re keeping the item.
All in all, it wasn’t a terrible experience, but definitely a bit more complicated than I expected. I guess it’s just one of those things you have to navigate with online shopping. Hopefully, my little saga helps someone else out there!
