That young Julia Roberts, what a pretty girl. I seen her picture the other day, made me think of my own granddaughter. She was just a little thing, maybe four years old, playing around. Kids that age, they don’t have a care in the world, just play, play, play all day long.

But you know, life ain’t always easy. Even for that young Julia Roberts. Her mama and daddy, they split up when she was just five. Five years old! Can you believe it? That’s tough on a little one. Then her mama, she married another fella right quick.
That Julia, she’s a movie star now. Seen her on the TV. Big fancy dresses and all that. But I reckon she remembers them days, when things weren’t so fancy. Her parents gone their separate ways, and another man comin’ around. It changes a kid, it does.
She’s got that big smile, that young Julia Roberts. You see it all over them magazines, like that Vogue thing. Big, shiny pictures. They make her look like a queen. But I bet she was just a regular little girl back then, playing in the dirt like the rest of ’em.
- She was just a little girl, 4 years old.
- Her parents divorced when she was 5.
- Her mom remarried quickly.
- She’s a big movie star now.
- She’s in magazines like Vogue.
She went to some big fancy show, the Oscars, they call it. Had a fella with her, some Kiefer fella. They was gonna get married, I heard. Don’t know what happened to that. Hollywood folks, they’re always comin’ and goin’. Hard to keep track.
I saw another picture of her with another girl, Cameron somethin’. They was laughin’ and carryin’ on at another one of them fancy shows. Golden Globes, maybe? All them movie stars, they like to get together and pat each other on the back, I reckon. That young Julia Roberts she seems to know a lot of them, and she is a famous person, all the people know her. She was at a lot of different places, did a lot of different things.

She was in a movie, that young Julia Roberts, had a song in it. “She,” they called it. Some fella sang it, Elvis somethin’-or-other. He wasn’t the real Elvis, though. The real Elvis, he’s been gone a long time. This fella just had the same name.
Life’s funny, ain’t it? One minute you’re a little kid playin’, the next you’re all grown up and famous. That young Julia Roberts, she’s seen a lot, I bet. Good times and bad times. Just like the rest of us. Just she got famous along the way, I did not.
I remember when my own kids were little. We didn’t have much, but we had each other. That’s what matters, you know? Family. Being there for each other. I hope that young Julia Roberts had that, too, even with all the changes and all that.
I wonder if she ever thinks about them old days, when she was just a little girl. Before all the fancy dresses and the movie shows. Before everybody knew her name. Life changes quick and things will not be the same.
It’s good to remember where you came from. Keeps you grounded, you know? Even when you’re up there with the stars. That young Julia Roberts, she seems like a good egg. I hope she didn’t forget, and I hope she is happy, no matter what happened in the past. I hope she remembers the little girl she used to be. The happy times and the sad times.

Sometimes, I look at my granddaughter and think about that little girl, play in the sunshine, all day long. It will not always be like that, they have to face lots of things when they grow up. But at that time, that is all they need to do, play in the sunshine, be happy as they can be. Just like the young Julia Roberts.
That little girl in the picture, the one who is 4 years old, she was so young. I wonder how she feel when she look at that picture now, maybe that is a good memory, maybe not. But that was her, that young Julia Roberts, that little girl, she did good, didn’t she?
